What are valuation bands?
||Valuation bands are used to work out how much the tax should be.
- Each property is valued.
- Properties are then placed into one of eight valuation bands.
- The higher the band the more the tax will be.
| BAND | VALUE |
|---|---|
| A | £40,000 or less |
| B | £40,001 to £52.000 |
| C | £52.001 to £68,000 |
| D | £68,001 to £88,000 |
| E | £88,001 to £ 120.000 |
| F | £120.001 to £160,000 |
| G | £160,001 to £320,000 |
| H | more than £320,000 |
The values are based on what the property would have sold for on 1st April 1991. They are worked out by the Listing Officer, who is separate from the Council. You can appeal if you feel your property has not been valued correctly - please see "Council Tax Benefit Appeals" for more information.
