||The Cinemas Act 1985, the Theatres Act 1968, the Late Night Refreshment Houses Act 1969 and the part of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 relevant to Public Entertainment Licensing were all repealed by the Licensing Act 2003.
All cinemas, theatres, places of public entertainment and late night refreshment houses are now licensed under the new regime.
The licence issued is now called a premises licence. This licence can have different activities assigned to it depending on the nature of the premises.
