The Civil Contingencies Act and Ashfield District Council

Cars in floodThe Civil Contingencies Act has means that as a Category 1 responder, Ashfield District Council has several duties in respect of emergency planning and Civil Contingencies, along with other organisations, such as along with the Emergency Services, NHS Bodies and the Environment Agency.

These duties include:

A lot of this work was already being undertaken by Ashfield District Council in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council and the Local Resilience Forum. The Civil Contingencies Act simply gives a national framework for us to work within.

As a Category 1 responder we now have to think bigger, expect the unexpected, plan, prepare, train and exercise for it.
