||Changes to the Complaints Procedure
From 8th May, 2008, the responsibility for considering complaints that a Member may have breached the Code of Conduct has moved to the Standards Committees of local authorities.What this means to you
If you want to complain about the conduct of a Member of Ashfield District Council or a member of one of our parish councils (Selston Parish Council or Annesley and Felley Parish Council), you must submit your complaint to:
The Standards Committee
Ashfield District Council
Council Offices
Urban Road
Kirkby in Ashfield
Nottinghamshire
NG17 8DA
- Download a complaint form as a MS-Word document
- OR Download a complaint form as a PDF document
- Download 'Guidance Notes on Making a Complaint about an Elected Councillor’s Conduct' (PDF six pages)
The Standards Assessment Sub Committee can only deal with complaints about the behaviour of a Member. It will not deal with complaints about things that are not covered by the Members’ Code of Conduct. If you make a complaint to the Standards Assessment Sub Committee it must be about why you think a Member has not followed the Code of Conduct.
Until 8th May, 2008, the Standards Board for England remained responsible for carrying out this function.
Please visit Standards for England’s website at www.standardsboard.gov.uk for further information.
