Comprehensive Performance Assessment
||The Council made a formal application to the Audit Commission in September 2006 to be re-categorised as a ‘good’ council. Sufficient evidence of improvement was found to warrant a re-assessment and the re-inspection took place on site in the first quarter of 2007. The result was that the Council’s comprehensive performance assessment (CPA) rating was increased from its 2003 ‘fair’ score to a ‘good’ score only 4 points short of an ‘excellent’ rating.
The report from the Audit Commission highlights all the areas where the Council has made progress but areas for improvement were identified around community safety and diversity. The Council is now working to address the recommendations of the inspectors.
