Audit Commission: Latest Audit Letter

The Audit Commission publish annual audit letters to summarise key matters arising from the yearly audit of national performance indicators and Assessments.

Previous Audit Letters

Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA)

The CPA rating is based on current performance. The Council was re-categorised as a ‘good’ council in 2006, increasing its rating from ‘fair’, received in 2003.

The report from the Audit Commission highlights all the areas where the Council has made progress but areas for improvement were identified around community safety and diversity. The Council is now working to address the recommendations of the inspectors.

Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA)

On 1 April 2009, CPA was replaced by a new area based performance framework, Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA). To find out more please refer to the CAA website pages.

Use of Resources Assessment

The Use of Resources Assessment is conducted annually by Audit Commission inspectors. The Inspection Report rates how well the council manages its finances and delivers value for money.

Data Quality Audit

The Data Quality Audit checks the validity of our performance indicator results and the framework we have in place to ensure that this information is accurate.
