||
One of the most unspoilt villages in Nottinghamshire, Old Teversal contains a number of important listed buildings and a fine avenue of lime trees. The extensive use of local stone and traditional roofing materials add to the special character of the area.

Buttery Lane, Teversal

The Manor of Teversal was held by the Molyneux and then the Carnarvon families, both of which mined coal in the area over many centuries. Twelve members of the Molyneux family are buried in the church of St.Katherine's in the village, whilst the Fifth Earl of Carnarvon is remembered for his sponsorship of the excavation of Tutankhamun's tomb.

The village is also famous for being the setting of D.H.Lawrence's 'Lady Chatterley's Lover'.
