About The GIS Section

||

At the beginning of 2003 an internal business unit was formed within Development Services to manage and promote the use of geographical information for the Authority.

LLPG

One of the first key tasks of this section was to create and then maintain a central land and property gazetteer for use within all aspects of the council's business.

The system went live in June 2003 and is now connected to the National Land and Property Gazetteer Hub maintained by Intelligent Addressing. The Gazetteer is accessible to all new systems purchased by the council since 2003 and is also accessible to the general public via our Interactive Mapping Applications.

Street Naming and Numbering

The GIS section is responsible for the street numbering of new developments, infill plots and can issue new street numbering schemes to resolve existing problems. For more information and online or printable request forms, please see our Street Naming and Numbering section.
