November 1996 – Adoption of Nottinghamshire Structure Plan. Work began on Ashfield Local Plan Review with a plan period to 2011.
July 1997 – Consultation on the Main Issues and Site Allocations Report.
4 March 1999 – Publication of Council's response to comments made on the report, together with Ashfield Local Plan Review Deposit Draft.
11 May 2000 – Second Deposit Local Plan approved for public consultation.
13 February to 22 May 2001 – Inquiry by Inspector into unresolved objections to the Ashfield Local Plan Review, leading to ...
16 January 2002 – Inspector's Report on the Local Plan Inquiry.
9 May 2002 – "Statement of Decisions on the Inspector's Report & Proposed Modifications to the Ashfield Local Plan Review" published by Council.
July 2002 – Report of consultation published. Indicates no further material changes required to the plan.
5 September 2002 – The Council resolves to formally adopt the Local Plan in its modified form.
22 November 2002 – The Council publicly advertises its decision to adopt the Plan.
