Flats Glass Recycing Bin

||
Mixed Glass Recycling Bin.

Glass bin

This container is for all of your glass bottles and jars, regardless of colour.

The Council collects the glass bottles and jars mixed. This is by far the cheapest and simplest way to do so.

All the Council asks is that the food jars are rinsed out and the lids removed.

Unfortunately, the Council cannot accept the following items:

Vision or Pyrex cookware, windows, mirrors, windscreens, light bulbs, ceramics or porcelain.

Where does the glass go for recycling?

The Council delivers the glass to Recresco in Kirkby in Ashfield. Here the glass is separated into different colours using lasers. The glass is then crushed into fine granules. From here the crushed glass is sent for recycling or as a road stone substitute (depending on colour and market conditions). Click on the image on the right for more details.
