||From tips on healthy eating and managing your medicines to safety in the home and correct footwear; the booklet has plenty of useful information in it.
Falls are a major cause of disability, impairment and the leading cause of death due to injury in older people aged over 75 in the UK.
- 30% of over-65s will fall each year; half of these will fall at least twice
- Falls in under-75s are often linked to uneven pavements, loose carpets and ill-fitting shoes
- Half of over 80s will fall each year
NHS Nottinghamshire County is encouraging older people to find out more about
falls prevention.

Here are our top ten tips to help prevent you from falling:
- Get your medication reviewed
- Eat a sensible diet and drink plenty of fluids
- Care for your feet
- Wear sensible footwear even in the home
- Keep as active as you can
- How safe is your home? reduce the clutter, remove rugs
- Use walking aids that have been issued for you
- Have your eyes tested yearly
- Only drink alcohol in moderation
- If you have a slip, trip or fall consult your GP
