Ashfield's Strategy For Housing
||Ashfield District Council’s Housing Strategy for 2005 – 2010 brings together in one living document national, regional and local priorities to form a balanced response to Ashfield’s housing needs. As required by the Department of Communities and Local Government, Ashfield District Council’s Housing Strategy was assessed in April 2006 as ‘Fit For Purpose’, making Ashfield one of only two councils in the county to achieve this standard (Mansfield is the other).

Need for Affordable Housing in South Nottinghamshire
The assessment of the
amount of affordable housing needed in South Nottinghamshire* was originally calculated and reported on in 1998 for the period
1996 - 2011 following joint work by Housing and Planning Officers in the five Authorities comprising the study area.
Since the initial report there have been monitoring and update reports every two years produced by these officers. The latest monitoring and update report was completed in July 2005 based on 2004 data. The periods now covered by the report are from 2001 - 2011 and 2001 - 2021.'

Rural Housing Needs Study
The Council has a statutory duty to regularly assess housing need in the District as required under the Housing Act
1985.
In 2003 an Ashfield Housing Market Study and Needs Assessment report was published by the Council as a result
of work carried out by B.Line Information in with the Council. The assessment was largely based on ‘data mining’ existing
information from a variety of sources. Following this report it was identified that further work was needed to investigate
the particular needs of the rural parts of Ashfield.
