Starting Work And Giving Notices At Certain Stages

||
inspection

As part of the Building Control function, fully qualified and experienced officers will inspect works as they proceed in order to ensure the works comply with all relevant building regulations.

Our Building Control Section is operated by a dedicated team of professional staff, giving an unrivalled level of service and knowledge of the local area.

It is important that you contact Building Control at certain stages of the build process, so that we can check the works and upon satisfactory completion issue you with a Completion Certificate.

Inspections are usually carried out from 10.30am* each weekday and a same day inspection will be made if requested before 10.00am.

Contact Building Control Services to arrange an inspection.

There are certain inspection stages that are considered statutory and these are:

The above are Statutory Notices which must be given to the Local Authority so they can inspect the work. Our Building Control officers will make additional inspections, where necessary, to give you advice and guidance as works proceed.

The inspection process is really important, since this is the Council's way of checking the works comply with the building regulations. If we are not notified at all the relevant stages, you may be asked to open up the works for inspection, since we will not be able to issue you with a Completion Certificate unless we can satisfy ourselves that the works are adequate.

The Completion Certificate is an important document and should be kept safe (usually with your Title Deeds). You will no doubt be asked to provide this certificate should you decide to sell your property.

* Inspections can be made to suit your individual needs, subject to agreement with your Building Control Officer.
