Housing Improvement and Repairs

'Care and Repair' is a home improvement agency set up to provide professional, technical and administrative services to elderly, disabled, and disadvantaged home owners who are having works carried out to their homes.

The Care and Repair agency currently comprises a manager, two technical officers, a case worker, and an administration officer.

What do they do?

Care and Repair work across the two districts of Ashfield and Mansfield. They aim to assist elderly, disabled, and disadvantaged home owners when they are having work carried out to their property. This help can be in the form of selecting approved builders, checking works, sorting out problems with builders, finding funding sources etc. Staff will also carry out a "benefits check" to establish if you are receiving all the benefits you are entitled to.

How much does it cost?

Care and Repair charge a small fee but this is money well-spent for the extent of service and the peace of mind it provides. If you are eligible for a Council grant or loan for the works, the fee is normally paid by the Council.
