Handyperson Service

||
The Handyperson Service is to carry out small scale works in the homes of elderly or disabled people. Works can include decorating, clearing gardens, changing light bulbs, fencing, path repairs etc.

Who can get it?

Applicants must be over 60 years of age or disabled. If you are a private tenant, the works must be those which are your responsibility (as opposed to your landlord’s).

Is it a Grant or a Loan, and is it Repayable?

This service is neither a grant nor a loan, but the Council subsidises the cost of the service.

Does the applicant have to pay for any of the works?

Yes. There is an hourly rate plus a charge for materials. The cost is reduced if you are in receipt of one of a number of means tested benefits. These are currently:

You will be advised of the cost to you before you decide to use the Service.

How do I register my interest in this scheme?

Please contact us or complete the enquiry form below.
