Home improvements - disability facility grant for a private property

||
Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) is a grant which is given to adapt houses occupied by disabled people. The adaptations are carried out to help the disabled persons get in and around the house more easily, as well as enabling them to use facilities and rooms.

Who can get it?

Initially, any referral for a Disabled Facilities Grant must come from an Occupational Therapist, at Nottinghamshire County Council Social Services. They will assess the needs of the disabled persons and advise what adaptations are required.

How much assistance is paid?

An initial means test is carried out to determine if you have to pay anything towards the work.  In many cases  applicants do not have to contribute anything.  Grant assistance is given to cover reasonable costs of works  required.
