"Refilling the Empties" Making the most of empty properties

Residential properties that stand empty in Ashfield are a target for squatters, vandals and burglars. They could provide homes for many people who need one.

If you own an empty property, know of one, or would simply like further information on this issue see our Empty Homes Campaign Or telephone Empty Homes on Freephone 0800 3280356.

The Council's approach to empty homes is contained in our Empty Homes Strategy. Select to read our Empty Homes Strategy 2009 - 2012 PDF Format (702KB)

For further information on the Empty Homes Strategy, please contact Dave Skellington - Senior Environmental Health Officer on 01623 457261.

The council, as part of a national push to get empty properties back into use, encourages people to report empty properties so that we can do something about them. If you know of a residential property standing empty, then please contact us . (see below ). We will investigate and take whatever steps are appropriate.

Empty private properties can cause problems for both the owners and the neighbours.

They can create a health and safety risk, lose the owner money, be a target for squatters, vandals and burglars and become an eyesore. Empty properties could, in the right condition, provide a much needed home for Ashfield people.
