Person receiving treatmentIf you receive income-based Jobseeker's Allowance you, and your partner, will be entitled to free NHS prescriptions, NHS dental treatment, NHS sight tests, NHS wigs and fabric supports, optical vouchers towards the cost of glasses, and refunds of necessary travel costs to hospital for NHS treatment.

If you receive contribution-based Jobseeker's Allowance, you may be able to get help on the basis of low income. If you wish to make a claim for help, use form HC1 which is available from a Social Security office or NHS hospital. It may also be available from dentists, opticians and family doctors.

If you are getting income-based Jobseeker's Allowance and someone in your family is pregnant or has a child under five, you may be able to get free milk and vitamins. For more information see leaflet WMV1 ("Welfare Milk and Vitamins: A Guide for Families") from your Social Security office.

There is more information about how to get help with health costs in the Department of Health's leaflet HC11 ("Are you Entitled to Help with Health Costs?"), which is available from Social Security offices and main Post Offices.
