||The three main parks of Sutton Lawn - Sutton, Kingsway - Kirkby, and Titchfield - Hucknall, each have a dedicated team of staff who pride themselves in delivering a high standard of horticultural maintenance that meets British Standard BS7370. In 2009 the three main Parks and the Country Parks of Brierley Park and Portland Park were all awarded Green Flags for the excellent facilities they provide.
The cemeteries of Hucknall, Kirkby, and Sutton Cemetery have a permanent presence of a cemetery keeper who maintains the site and assist visitors.
Mobile teams regularly visit all other sites to ensure that the defined standards are maintained at smaller parks, recreation grounds, grass verges, town centre flowerbeds, closed cemetery sites and allotments.
The green space operatives ensure the quality and range of horticultural features. There is a detailed program of planned maintenance for grass cutting, flower and shrub beds, tree maintenance and hedgerows. Further maintenance of litter picking, graffiti removal, sweeping of leaf and blossom fall, ad-hoc maintenance and repairs are undertaken when required.
Regular inspections of play equipment are undertaken to ensure the equipment and other components of our playgrounds are not defective. Defects are assessed and either made safe, repaired or replaced.
The Green Space Operation teams are continually striving to improve all our green space for the benefit and wellbeing of the residents and communities of Ashfield.
