Ranks should be sited so that passenger safety is paramount and in order that passengers can alight and board the vehicles onto and from the footway on the nearside on the vehicle.

No vehicles other that Hackney Carriages (Taxi's), licensed with Ashfield District Council can stop on a Taxi rank for any reason. The drivers of un-licensed Taxis, or privately owned vehicles, found stopped or parked on any of Ashfield District Council taxi ranks are committing an offence and risk prosecution.
