All signs on the public Highway must be authorised by Nottinghamshire County Council, the highway authority.

If you want to request new signage or road markings (such as a disabled bay), please contact Nottinghamshire County Council.

If you want to report a damaged road sign or worn road markings please contact Ashfield District Council.

Useful Information

The Highway Code gives examples of the most common signs in normal use. Signs fall into certain groups:

• regulatory signs - signs with red circles.
• warning signs - mostly triangular.
• direction signs - mostly rectangular. Destinations and map type.
• information signs - mostly rectangular.
