Road Markings and Signage - yellow lines

||
Yellow lines, limited time parking bays and residents parking are provided where there is a need to restrict parking to help alleviate traffic flow and to prevent obstructions on the highway.

There are five main types of markings used:

  1. Double lines - usually mark lengths of road where there is no waiting at any time. However there are exceptions to this and supplementary plates fixed to lighting columns or posts will tell you what the actual restriction is.
  2. Single lines - usually indicate a shorter period of restriction such as daytime, again supplementary plates will show the actual times.
  3. Limited time parking bays – areas where parking is allowed but is subject to a time period is marked with white lines marking the parking bay. Supplementary plates will show the actual times applicable to each bay.
  4. Residents parking bays – common within the Ashfield District, these areas give parking priority to local residents, through the use of a permit disc which must be displayed in the car. If you have recently moved into a house within a Residents Parking Scheme or have changed your vehicle a new permit must be obtained from Nottinghamshire County Council.
  5. Loading restrictions – shown by yellow markings on the kerb and the supplementary plates.

All lines on the highway must be authorised by Nottinghamshire County Council.
