Grass cutting

The Council cuts grass to ensure that people can use roads and pavements safely. Although environmental issues are of paramount concern, grass cutting is actually carried out for highway safety reasons rather than environmental purposes.

The grass cutting of highway verges is carried out by Ashfield District Council, as partners to Nottinghamshire County Council, the Highway Authority.

The Council cuts the grass between 15 and 20 times per year following a cyclic maintenance program. Grass clippings are not removed this is standard practice throughout most councils and is in accordance with British Standard 7370.
