Ashfield District Council Publication Scheme 2009
Access to Information Charter

A publication scheme is a commitment to routinely and proactively provide information to the public. Every public authority subject to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 is required to adopt and maintain a publication scheme.

Ashfield District Councils Publication Scheme has adopted the Information Commissioners model scheme, where information included falls under seven headings:

  1. Who we are and what we do.
  2. What we spend and how we spend it.
  3. What our priorities are and how we are doing.
  4. How we make decisions.
  5. Our policies and procedures.
  6. Lists and registers.
  7. The services we offer.

The classes of information included will not include information, the disclosure of which is prevented by law, or which is exempt under the Freedom of Information Act.

The Council aims to achieve greater openness and transparency, to increase through more proactive availability of information as part of its normal day-to-day activities.

P.G. Marshall
Chief Executive
